Father Michael Medis

Father Michael was assigned rector of Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church on August 29, 2022. He graduated from St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary on May 20, 2000, and was ordained as a priest that same day. He was rector at St. Gregory Palamas Orthodox Church in Glen Gardner, NJ, from 2000 to 2006. In 2006, he returned to the Midwest to work at Research Medical Center where he finished credits (8) in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). He is a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) and has worked in the hospital setting and in facilities and private homes as a hospice chaplain. Father Michael also worked 3 years for the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) in Kansas City, MO, as a victim advocate. He volunteered an additional 4 years for this organization facilitating men’s survivor groups. In 2016, he received the Community Champions Victim Service Award in the State of Kansas.

Father Michael and his wife, Kim, have five children: Rebecca, Grace, Charity, Andrew, and Hope.
